Hello everyone,
This blog post will be 60% for awesomeness, and 40% for having something else on here besides me destroying “Franken-Donkey”
As our blog states, right on the top of the page- “If we go unmentioned, then we have done our job.“
We all know it’s our job to remain unseen and in the shadows, hidden from society and recognition. When our presence becomes obvious though… it forces what I call,
The Pity Shout Out. Do you know what I’m speaking of? It’s when the next slide doesn’t come up…and in the awkward pause, the speaker thanks the tech crew for their expertise and assures the audience that they truly are, trying their best. Or better yet, as feedback screams in the house causing near panic…. the vocalist then says something to the effect of “Alright everybody, give it up for our audio guys up there, come on!” and leads the mass into clapping, hoping to drown out anymore wailing high pitches. You really have to feel bad for the audio guys though…or really anyone who is in the Front of House booth…. As people look back to determine why things are going so horribly, whether it be the volume, or the wrong slide, or even the temperature of the room, it’s definitely that guys fault.
Of course, really we can’t blame them for this, we would probably do the same thing in their shoes. This though, is why we must be the elite, the A-Team, the best of the best… who in fact are… trying their best.
Here’s a little clip from a concert we had here not too long ago with FFH. This is certainly not example of the ordinary Media Shout Out, but we sure found it pretty hilarious. Stealth was probably not something we were maintaining very well that night, but it ended in a light-hearted bonding moment between one of our camera guys, and the singer in FFH… This is probably a good time to warn performers… once you have made “the shout out,” stealth is then thrown out the window entirely, for the Unmentioned… have now been mentioned, and there is NO turning back.
